Train services disrupted by “obstruction on the line”

The Mitsubishi Shogun was left teetering on the edge of the Kempton Park platform, in Sunbury.

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP), Surrey Police and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service were called to the station.

Fortunately, no-one was injured but it still took fire crews over two hours to remove the vehicle using lifting equipment.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “No-one was injured and the car was discovered hanging off the edge of the platform with its front end on the track.

“A 75-year-old man from Middlesex was arrested on suspicion of endangering safety, he has been interviewed and released on bail.”

Trains services on the Shepperton line were stopped following the incident on Saturday, due to an “obstruction on the line”.
