Manufacturer unveils new logo to celebrate its history

GS Yuasa celebrates its 100th anniversary
GS Yuasa's newly-launched logo.

The battery manufacturer was formed from two companies – Japan Storage Battery, established in 1917, and Yuasa Battery, established a year later – both of which were responsible for building the foundation of storage battery development and manufacturing in Japan.

Since then, both companies have worked diligently to promote battery development, culminating in a 2004 merger in an effort to achieve further growth and development.

Both companies can each boast of over 100 years of history, and cumulatively GS Yuasa has inherited over 200 years of successes, technologies, and expertise.

A new logo has been unveiled to mark the anniversary, in which the zeros are linked together like a chain to represent the strong bond between GS Yuasa and its customers.

During the past 100 years, notable achievements include inventing a revolutionary method for manufacturing lead powder in 1920 – the most important ingredient for lead storage batteries – resulting in a dramatic improvement in their quality and performance.

The manufacturer’s Li-ion space cells are also the most widely used in orbit, including on the International Space Station.

Accomplishments such as applying sophisticated technologies for special-application batteries and successfully mass producing automotive lithium-ion batteries ahead of competitors have also contributed to GS Yuasa’s reputation for innovation.
