The Ford Focus is the most scrapped car in Britain, with around 43,000 units of the popular family hatchbacks sent to the crusher in the first ten months of 2023.

This is according to data from Autocar, sourced via a Freedom of Information Request.

It found that 798,363 cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) were scrapped between January and October, around half the 1,889,758 new cars and LCVs registered over the same period.

The Focus has been a consistent top-seller since its arrival in 1998, so it’s not surprising that so many examples are meeting a crushing end. Indeed, the top ten is filled with cars that will be familiar to garage owners and technicians.
