Sykes-Pickavant is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support which is providing support and inspiration for a Sykes-Pickavant employee.
As part of its fundraising efforts, Darren Barker, purchasing officer at Sykes-Pickavant and three of his ‘golfer’ friends took part in ‘72 holes of golf in just one day on Friday 24th June.
The team of four who are all members of the Chase Golf Club in Penkridge, Staffordshire, tee’d off at 5.00am to tackle the first of four rounds of the course, completing the challenge at 8.30pm having covered around 22 miles.
Darren said: “So far, as a company we have raised over £2000 as part of our fundraising for Macmillan Cancer and having spoken to some of the guys at the golf club, I thought what better way to have some fun competing against each other, whilst at the same time raising money for such a worthwhile charity.”
Collectively, the team has raised over £1200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Paul Archer, managing director at Sykes-Pickavant, said: “We chose to partner with Macmillan, as it’s a charity that provides invaluable services and support to those living with cancer.”
