As the UK gears up for the upcoming general election on 4 July, the National Body Repair Association (NBRA) is sounding the alarm that the industry faces critical challenges, and the NBRA is calling on the next government to prioritise essential reforms.
Martyn Rowley, Executive Director of the NBRA, highlights two key areas: the Apprenticeship Levy and Skilled Worker Visa rules. The current Apprenticeship Levy system is failing the industry, hindering apprenticeship opportunities rather than fostering them. Simplifying access to levy funds and removing barriers discouraging apprenticeship uptake is crucial.
Additionally, recent changes to Skilled Worker Visa rules threaten to exacerbate the industry’s workforce challenges. Adjustments are needed to ensure that NBRA members can continue accessing skilled workers.
