Motor Codes appoint new managing director

Mr Fennell has worked in the motor industry for almost three decades and takes up his Motor Codes position on 14 September.

Speaking about the appointment, SMMT Chief Executive Mike Hawes said: “Bill joins Motor Codes at a critical time. New responsibilities for the sector arising under the Consumer Rights Bill and the need for all garages to provide an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) route for customers meant that it was important to appoint someone with vision, business acumen understanding of both consumer needs and the challenges faced by the automotive industry.”

The appointment comes as Motor Codes develops new methods of engagement with consumers, helping to improve the service provision for its network of 7,500 garages.

The Company is well positioned as the UK’s only comprehensive Chartered Trading Standards Institute-approved vehicle supply, maintenance and warranty network.

Bill Fennell said: “This is a tremendous time to lead one of the most important consumer organisations in the UK. I am looking forward to working with all partners, to widen our subscriber base and to ensure we enhance the quality of service within the motor industry, improving the satisfaction and overall confidence of consumers.

“Motor Codes is essential to this task and I am keen to ensure that the organisation delivers on all fronts.”

Mike Hawes paid tribute to the work of Mark Terry who has acted as Interim Managing Director for the past six months and who now returns to his role as a Motor Codes Board Director.
