Vehicle technicians at Fix Auto in Lichfield couldn’t find any obvious signs of engine trouble but after taking the car for a test drive they could smell burning.
Inspecting the engine bay, the technicians found fur on the alternator and soon discovered Darcy the cat.
Technician, Lee Langley told the Mirror: “The poor thing looked petrified.
“We discovered him deep within the engine bay.”
It’s thought that the cat had taken shelter from the rain by climbing up into the engine of the parked car before the owner went on a round trip from Cannock, Staffordshire to Manchester.
Darcy escaped serious injury was later reunited with his owner who was pleased to have him back home.
