Electric and hybrid TRW brake pads win innovation prize
TRW Electric Blue brake pads are available for 92 percent of hybrid and 97 percent of electric vehicles in Europe.

TRW Electric Blue brake pads have won the Innovation Award in the category “Parts, Vehicle Equipment and Spare Parts” at the International Equip Auto fair.

Specifically designed for electric and hybrid vehicles, Electric Blue brake pads were introduced by ZF Aftermarket in September 2018 and significantly reduces interior noise and brake dust.

Since then, the TRW Electric Blue programme has been expanded so that ZF Aftermarket achieves market coverage of 92 percent for hybrid and 97 percent for electric cars in Europe.

ZF’s high innovative strength was honoured with the Equip Auto International Innovation Award, with the TRW Electric Blue portfolio for the growing electric and hybrid vehicle market particularly highly commended.

The electrification of the driveline is an important lever, allowing ZF’s continued contribution to the reduction of CO₂ emissions in road traffic.

The technology group offers hybrid modules, plug-in hybrid transmissions and electric drives for electric vehicles, including power electronics and system integration.

Automotive technology of the future

ZF’s aftermarket division is involved at an early stage in the development of the automotive technology of the future.

It allows the forward-looking development and implementation of new solutions for products and services in the aftermarket.

This also includes the world’s first brake pad for electric and hybrid vehicles, which helps to noticeably reduce noise and vibrations during braking.

The high level of innovation is coupled with demand-oriented service quality: TRW Electric Blue brake pads are supplied with the appropriate accessories to guarantee a quick fit.

“The innovation award for the TRW Electric Blue brake pad is confirmation of our role as an active designer of the Next Generation Aftermarket,” explains Helmut Ernst, head of ZF Aftermarket.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer our partners this innovative product for almost all electric and hybrid vehicles in Europe – from Tesla and Nissan Leaf to Toyota Prius.”

The Equip Auto International Grands Prix for Automotive Innovation aim to select and reward the most innovative concepts, products and services presented by Equip Auto exhibitors and shine a light on the emerging technology in the automotive aftermarket.
