The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has thanked the 80 percent of MOT testers who have completed this year’s MOT annual training and assessment.
However, this means that 20 percent of testers still need to compete the assessment before the deadline of 31 March.
The DVSA is advising testers to take immediate action, as leaving it until the deadline risks being suspended from testing.
New testers are not required to complete the annual assessment or record annual training within the current year (1 April to 31 March) of a successful demonstration test unless they become lapsed.
Testers who do not successfully complete the annual assessment and have it recorded against their MTS profile by the 31 March will have their testing status switched to suspended.
To resume testing, they must submit a basic DBS check, complete the current year’s MOT annual training, MOT annual assessment and successfully complete demonstration test with a DVSA vehicle examiner.
