A mechanic who waged a ‘vendetta’ against his former employer after he was fired for allegedly stealing diesel has been jailed for eight years.
Adrian Ling caused £136,000 of damage as he targeted vehicles owned by the Suffolk-based Goldline Travel. He also enlisted the help of an accomplice, Daniel Garrison.
Coaches and taxis owned by Goldline Travel were regularly vandalised, including one incident in which vehicles were shot at with an air rifle while passengers were inside. On another occasion, Ling is accused of head-butting Goldline Travel’s owner, Ian Trussler, at a supermarket.
Ling started working at the private hire firm in 2008 but was sacked in 2012 after he was accused of stealing diesel. A conviction for the offence was subsequently overturned on appeal.

The pair were found guilty of the offences in November 2023, but appeared at Ipswich Crown Court for sentencing after a two-month trial.
Detective Constable Andrew Thawley said: “This has been a long and complicated investigation with Ling and Garrison taking many steps to try to conceal their crimes against Goldline Travel.
“Extensive inquiries were carried out and, ultimately, the evidence gathered from sources including CCTV, ANPR, forensic analysis (DNA and firearms), communications data, mobile phone records and witness testimony, presented a compelling case linking them to the incidents.
“This investigation reflects a considerable level of teamwork and I would like to give credit to the work done by officers from Beccles Safer Neighbourhood Team in particular.”
Ling has been jailed for eight years, while Garrison will be sentenced at a later date.
