Alternatively fuelled vehicle (AFV) registrations rose by 17 per cent across Europe in the second quarter of 2015, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
Figures show that pure electric vehicle registrations grew by more than half, with hybrid vehicle registrations rising by 22 per cent.
Figures for the first half of 2015 further highlight the buoyant AFV market in Europe, with demand rising almost 25 per cent to almost 300,000 registrations in the EU.
The UK once again led the way with the biggest growth of Europe’s major car markets.
