The video, recorded on a dashcam from inside the vehicle behind the van, shows the moment a broken-down Vauxhall Astra came close to being the subject of two horrific crashes.
The white van can be seen suddenly swerving into the middle lane, revealing a stranded vehicle on the inside of the M1 North of Wakefield.
The driver of the vehicle with the dashcam is then forced to do the same, both vehicles missed the Astra with inches to spare. 
The footage was posted to YouTube by Pete Austin, who wrote: “Keep your eye on the white van that pulls in front of me blocking my view.”
He later commented: “I should mention I had my wife and three children on board at the time… consider myself very lucky.”
Other viewers left claims that he was tailgating the van but Pete defended his driving saying that the van pulled in front of him and was accelerating away from him before it made the evasive manoeuvre.
