WhoCanFixMyCar.com, the car servicing and repair comparison website used by thousands of drivers every week, last week welcomed their 7,000th garage member – Nick Kerner 4 Wheel Drive Ltd in Winkfield.
More and more drivers are turning to the web to compare garage pricing and reviews, and, after decades of reliance on local word of mouth and traditional, offline advertising, ever more garage businesses are focusing their efforts on building their profile, and reputation, online.
The website says mechanical repairs (clutches, cambelts, servicing, brakes and exhausts) are popular jobs undertaken by their garages but drivers are also using the website to seek out specialists for a wide range of issues and special requests.
While the majority of members are ‘traditional’ independent garages, also in the mix are several hundred mobile mechanics, cosmetic and SMART repairers, bodyshops, transmission specialists, auto electricians and brand specialists.
WhoCanFixMyCar garages pay an annual subscription of just £79.99, allowing them to quote on an unlimited number of jobs – and contact drivers by phone.
They pay a small commission (£11 on average) whenever they win a new customer, any upsell on the day is commission-free.
The average final bill is £350 and top performers, such as Automotive Components Specialist in Enfield, and Thomsons Auto Centre in East Kilbride, have now won hundreds of new customers, bringing in hundreds of thousands of pounds of incremental revenue.
The website last week launched an Auto-Quoting’ facility, allowing members to instantly quote certain repair types, even on evenings and weekends.
Coming soon are redesigned and enhanced garage profile pages, containing a wealth of business information in one place – vital when around half of independent garages don’t have a website of their own.
