Christine Prescott was ordered to pay a £165 fine after she was spotted by a member of the public who called the police.
Prescott’s ex-husband had been driving the car when it broke down in Sawston, Cambridgeshire, and decided to go to a nearby pub.
Jim Dignan, mitigating, told Cambridge magistrates: “He went off to the pub and left her to her own devices.
“She pushed it from a very dangerous place to a safer place.”
A roadside breath test revealed Prescott to be 15mg over the legal limit and she was charged with driving under the influence and using a car with no third-party insurance.
Lead magistrate, Mary Duff stressed that while the ‘unusual’ offence wasn’t like driving on the motorway, she had to ban Prescott, who was already in breach of a 28-day driving ban for failing to stop after an accident.
