Matthew Lewis with the vandalised car.

Jake Minty’s Renault Clio was parked near M & K where he works in Boddam, near Peterhead where vandals had scratched the paint work of the car, which the apprentice had spent months fixing.

The 19-year-old apprentice discovered his car with his boss Matthew Lewis on Saturday.

The culprits appear to have carved their names into the paintwork, helping the garage to track down the vandals who were also captured on video in the area.

Mr Lewis said: “I’ve been doing detective work, trying to get in touch with the parents of the kids.

“The car was obviously old and was parked around the corner but Jake had been using it every weekend, doing work on it and getting it ready for the road. It was going to be his first car.”

Mr Minty said he was fuming about the incident but would be happy if he was reimbursed for the damage caused to his car.

Local police are reported to be investigating.
