Why you shouldn’t overlook brake fitting kits
Fitting kits are often overlooked but are hugely important to braking performance.

The fitting of new brake parts such as brake pads and re-using original springs can seriously compromise braking performance, according to Apec Braking.

Despite this, Apec say fitting accessory kits for major parts are often overlooked.

After just one or two years of use, tension on a brake pad caliper spring can be reduced by around 50 per cent.

In the same time period, brake shoe spring tension can be reduced by at least 30 per cent.

As they lose their tensile strength, these parts may break or fall-out with possibly serious consequences.

Worn parts can also cause increased noise, unequal wear and uneven braking, which reduces stability and safety.

Apec accessory kits offer a wide range of springs and shims, all precision made to OE standards using quality, durable materials.

When fitted with Apec pads and discs, they ensure that fitters can restore even high-mileage braking systems to the braking performance levels the original manufacturer intended.
